Amitabh Bachchan Finally Breaks His Silence On Aishwarya Rai’s Role In Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Calls It 'Liberated'
The first time the audience got a glimpse of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that features Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in pivotal roles, was two-and-a-half months ago when the makers first released its teaser (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Teaser Is A Roller Coaster Ride From Romance To Heartbreak, Aug 30). While it garnered much-appreciation from critics and audiences alike, it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s oh-so-hot avatar and her sizzling chemistry with Ranbir that grabbed maximum eyeballs.

Following the teaser, speculations were rife that the Bachchan family was unhappy with Aishwarya for doing intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor. Amitabh and Jaya’s absence from the film’s special screening only added fuel to fire. If that was not enough, Aishwarya went missing from Shweta Nanda’s recent ramp walk despite the fact that the family was in attendance and cheered Shweta on.

Punching a hole in rumours of a rift in the family, Amitabh finally broke his silence on daughter-in-law Aishwarya’s role in ADHM. While talking about how Indian cinema is undergoing a sea change by featuring strong female characters in movies at the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival, he said that Aishwarya's character Saba has turned the tables on men.

He stated, “More recently there was a very liberated, a divorced woman Saba in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil who turned the tables on men when she told the lover, ‘Main kisiki zaroorat nahi, khwaish banna chahti hoon.” Can the speculations stop now?

Meanwhile, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil's worldwide box-office collection has gone past Rs 200 crore. At the  domestic box-office, the romantic drama has earned Rs 105 crore so far.
